How to choose the right stationery tape

To figure out which stationery tape is right for you, there are a few things to consider. Some adhesive tapes offer stronger bonding, while others provide a more appealing appearance when applied. 

For example, acrylic adhesives such as the Nachi 620 will give you a pristine finish without any yellowing, even after long-term use. This is thanks to its UV resistance, which helps to give it a crystal clear look, making it ideal for retail businesses where appearances are important. 

Natural rubber adhesives, such as the Vibac 650, are all about strong and quick bonding even on tough surfaces, such as recycled boards. They also perform much better in extreme temperatures, holding their adhesion in extremely cold or high-humidity environments. 

For this reason, these packaging materials are best for warehouses and storage applications. However, keep in mind that they must be applied above 10°C for the best performance. 

Compatibility with desktop dispensers

Nachi 630 comes with up to 12 rolls of smaller tapes, which are made for more portable dispensers that you might use in retail, offices, or for gift wrapping. Otherwise, both Nachi 620 and Vibac 650 are designed to fit standard tape guns and dispensers, which can work well in desktop settings, such as an office or school classroom, as well as packaging industries like warehouses and factories.

Best practices for storage and application

To get the most out of your stationary tape, make sure you store it correctly. Make sure to keep it in its original packaging, as this will help to protect your tape. Store it in a dry environment with no direct sunlight to ensure better longevity, and remember to maintain an average temperature of around 18°C to 22°C with 40 to 50% relative humidity.

How can I get the best bond when applying stationery tapes?

By applying at room temperature (which is above 10°C for natural rubber adhesives), you’ll get the most effective and lasting impact out of your tape. 

Start by preparing the surface properly. This means wiping down the surface to make sure it’s clean and dry, using a disposable wipe or a lint-free wiping cloth. If you’re unsure, perform a test on a small section to make sure there are no issues. 

When you’re ready, apply sufficient pressure to the tape as you stick it down, making sure there’s limited finger contact with the sticky side.
