What makes single-sided PVC foam tape effective for sealing?

With a closed-cell structure, this type of adhesive foam tape is completely air-tight, meaning it helps to prevent the ingress of dust and moisture. This is a big part of why it’s so effective for sealing purposes. This means you can use the tape for waterproofing and temporarily repairing pipes and cables.

Comparing foam densities and applications

Our single-sided foam tapes can be split into three distinct groups based on their densities.

  • Soft PVC foam tape is ideal for tight curves and compression.
  • Medium PVC foam tape effortlessly balances strength and flexibility.
  • Hard PVC foam tape is used for more heavy-duty sealing.

Here’s how our products stack up:

Kwikseal 3507 Series Grey Hard Density PVC Foam Tape Hard Grey 1.6 – 6.4 Wear and abrasion resistant, reverse wound Industrial sealing and cushioning

Which PVC foam tape is best for my project?

To figure out which single-sided foam tape is right for your needs, there are a couple of things you should consider.

First, think about the colour you want. Aesthetics can be an important part of choosing tape, so knowing if you want black or grey is a good place to start.

You also need to understand which density is best for you. If you’re looking for light sealing, soft foam tape is probably your best bet; if you’re working with more heavy-duty applications, hard foam is the way to go. And if you require something in between, choose medium.

Industries and applications

Wondering where to use single-sided PVC foam tapes? Here’s a list of some of the most common use cases for these adhesives:

  • Door seals and vibration dampening for cars and other automotives
  • Weather seals and air/moisture barriers in construction
  • Cushioning and insulation for electronics and cables
  • Sealing in marine and fabrication industries
  • Die-cutting for gaskets for more specific sealing

Can single-sided PVC foam tape be used outdoors?

Thanks to their excellent weather-resistant properties, most single-sided PVC foam tapes can be used outdoors. All of our products are flame-retardant with excellent water absorption levels. Plus, they offer UV and oxidation resistance for effective and durable use outdoors.

Storage and application guidelines

Proper storage of adhesive tape can significantly extend its shelf life and ensure it performs as expected when it’s time to use it.

They should be kept in their original packaging at a recommended temperature of 18°C to 22°C to maintain their shelf life. Each product comes with its own data sheet outlining clear storage recommendations, in case you need further information.

To get the strongest bond out of your tape, you should also make sure you follow our application guidelines. This includes cleaning the surface with an IPA solution and a lint-free cloth and ridding the space of any contaminants before you apply with sufficient pressure.
