• Stylus 972: Offers a high-tack hotmelt adhesive with an operating temperature range of -5 to 60ºC.
• Stylus 973: Offers a high-tack acrylic adhesive with an operating temperature range of -20 to 120ºC.

How to apply and remove aluminium foil tape

Aluminium foil tape is easy to use, but preparing the surface properly will give your customers the best results. Here’s how to apply it:

1. Prepare the surface: Make sure the area you’re applying the tape to is dry and free from dust or residue.
2. Cut the tape: Measure and cut the length you need.
3. Align the tape: Position it carefully over the surface.
4. Press firmly: Apply steady pressure along the tape to activate the adhesive.
5. Smooth it out: Use your fingers or a soft cloth to remove air pockets and ensure full contact.

Removing aluminium foil tape may take a little more effort than other tapes due to its strong adhesive. To remove it:

1. Warm the tape: Use gentle heat (from a heat gun or even a hair dryer) to soften the adhesive.

Is aluminium foil tape waterproof?

Aluminium foil tape is not waterproof, but it is moisture-resistant. All our foil tapes are designed to create a reliable vapour barrier in HVAC work, insulation, and refrigeration units (902 only). 

This means they help stop moisture getting into sealed joints, but they are not made for outdoor waterproofing or sealing leaks in gutters, pipes or other exposed areas.

How long does aluminium foil tape last?

Our aluminium foil tapes are designed for long-term performance when used as directed. Each product has its own temperature range, outdoor rating and recommended use.

For example, some of our tapes are rated for short-term (under six months) outdoor exposure (973 and 345SW), while others can handle high-temperature environments (345SW and 902).
